Governor Walz released his recommendations for the 2020 Capital Bonding bill. The proposal calls for a total of $2.6 billion in bonds and cash and includes $451 million from a combination of GO bonds, trunk highway bonds and general fund cash for Transportation. The Transportation section provides $112 million for the Local Bridge program, $100 million for the Local Road Improvement Program, $55 million for transitway projects, $10 million for Greater MN Transit and $110 million for rail grade separation projects as well as funding for other modes. The Governor is also recommending $26.4 million for the Local Road Wetland Replacement program.
